The Sunyani East constituency Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has chastised members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who describe them as hypocrites.
Vincent Antwi Agyei said they(NDC) have the right to change their position on the aborted December 17 referendum just as the President who campaigned for YES has also made a U-TURN after a broader consultation.
President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, called off the holding of the Referendum of 17th December, 2019, citing the lack of a broad, national consensus amongst key stakeholders and the populace.
President Akufo-Addo thus instructed the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Hajia Alima Mahama who is spearheading the process on behalf of government to abort the process and see to the withdrawal of the bills for the amendment of the Constitution, both in respect of article 243(1) and article 55(3).
Addressing the nation on Sunday 1st December, the President indicated the attainment of a broad consensus for him, on a matter as important as the amendment of an entrenched provision of the Constitution is critical.
But speaking to Akua Nyarko Abronoma, Host of Dinpa anopa bosuo on 91.3 FM, Antwi Agyei said “Why are they (NPP) accusing us of being hypocrites, are we not bound to change our decisions anytime? Even the supreme Court review cases whenever the need arose”.
Commenting on the introduction of the new Ghc 100 and Ghc 200 notes, he appealed to the government to stop misplacing its priorities and focus on delivering on his failed promises .
He called on the Government to distribute the 1m dollar per constituency as promised, distribute the packed ambulances and reduce the prices of fuel.
