ASH REG: Bonwire Kente Festival postponed after death of Chief
The Bonwire traditional council has postponed indefinitely its upcoming Kente Festival scheduled for today, Monday, December 23 to Sunday December 29, 2019.
The Chief, Elders and the Kente Festival Planning Committee arrived at this decision after the sudden demise of Nana Akwasi Gyebi, Nifahene of the area.
Addressing a Press Conference at the chief’s Palace, Nana Bobie Ansah, Bonwirehene said ,the traditional council and stakeholders after extensive consultations and deliberation were compelled to suspend the much anticipated Kente Festival due to the death of one of the Kingmakers (Nifahene)
He said although plans were far advanced with barely few days to the occasion, but could not continue with the festival, whiles a great hero, a brother and a kingmaker has fallen.

Nana Bobie Ansah however on behalf of the traditional council and the festival’s planning committee apologized to to all and sundry for any inconvenience caused and added that, a date will be fixed after the final funeral rites of the Nifahene is done with.


In a related development, in order to augment the current situation and promote the rich Kente of Bonwire, Nana Bobie Ansah, Bonwirehene in collaboration with the Bonwire Kente Weavers Association will organize a trade and exhibition fair at the Kente Weaving Center, Bonwire on Wednesday, 25 and Thursday, 26 of December 2019.

Confirming this to the media, Sanaahene of Bonwire who double as Chairman for the Kente Festival Planning Committee, Nana Asuoko Asomadu said all the beautiful and quality Kente will be displayed with discounted prices with some some as low as half its original prices

He however called on anyone who need or wants to trade in Kente to avail himself at the fair on the above stated dates.
