GJA mourns Peace FM reporter

The Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regional Chapter of the Ghana Journalist Association(GJA) has expressed regret over the sudden demise of Oheneba Kennedy who was a media practitioner and a correspondent for Peace FM.

The Association in a statement copied to Dinpafm.com said: ”The demise of our colleague is a big blow to the Association and the media industry in general. Indeed a great oak has fallen”.

Oheneba Kennedy, 41, died on Thursday December 26, 2019 at the Sunyani Municipal Hospital after a short illness.

He was a reporter and radio presenter at Akina Radio in Techiman, the Bono East regional capital.

Popularly known as “Aponkye Kokoo”, Oheneba Kennedy worked for Space FM in Sunyani for nearly a decade before joining Akina Radio in 2016.

The Ghana Journalists Association, Bono, Bono East and Ahafo branch is regretted over the sudden demise of Oheneba Kennedy, media practitioner and a Correspondent for Peace FM.

We received the news about the death of our colleague and compatriot with shock and disbelief, and we wish to express our deepest commiseration to the bereaved family.

The demise of our colleague is a big blow to the Association and the media industry in general. Indeed a great oak has fallen.

“Aponkye Kokoo”, the GJA, Journalists and all media practitioners in the country will forever remember you for your hard work and commitment to duty. You are a true statesman and we believe nothing can fill the vacuum you have created in the media industry.

We therefore wish to assure the bereaved family of our unflinching support towards ensuring befitting burial and funeral rite for Oheneba Kennedy.

We still believe our bother is asleep in the LORD and we shall meet One Day.

The deceased was also a student of the Valley View University, studying Human Resource Management.

The one-week observation, according to family source will be held on January 2, 2020 at Yawhima, a suburb of Sunyani from 0600 hours to 1800 hours.
