Rejoice Media and Baobab IT Institute Graduates First Cohort in Mim, Ahafo — A Major Milestone for Youth Empowerment
Rejoice Media and Baobab IT Institute, popularly known as Rejoice Media & IT Institute, has successfully graduated its first cohort of students in Mim, Ahafo, marking a historic milestone in youth empowerment, digital skills training, and professional development in the Asunafo District and the Ahafo Region.
The graduation ceremony celebrated the completion of training by 15 pioneering students, making the institute the first media and IT training institution of its kind in the Asunafo District and Ahafo at large. The event highlighted a strong commitment to bridging the gap between social entrepreneurship, media practice, and digital skills development for young people.
Principal’s Welcome Address
The ceremony officially opened with a welcome address delivered by the Principal of the institute, Zakaria Mohammed, popularly known as Proff Zakawawa. He welcomed dignitaries, parents, and guests, and emphasized the institute’s dedication to quality training, discipline, and hands-on practical learning aligned with industry needs.
Founders Share the Vision
Speaking at the event, Yayah Sarkodie, Co-Founder of Rejoice Media and Baobab IT Institute, explained that the establishment of the school in Mim was driven by the desire to give back to the community. He noted that the institute was created to equip the youth with media and digital skills that would enable them to create jobs, reduce unemployment, and contribute meaningfully to community development.

Co-Founder Eric Derrick (popularly known as Ericuz) shared the vision and mission of the institute, encouraging parents and guardians to enroll their children to gain practical, employable skills. His presence at the ceremony, having traveled from Australia, demonstrated his strong commitment to the institute and its long-term impact in Ahafo.

Support from Dignitaries and Industry Leaders
The ceremony was graced by Hon. Haruna Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Asunafo North, who commended the founders for their contribution to youth development. He advised graduates to take their skills seriously and uphold media ethics and professionalism, stressing that ethical conduct is key to long-term success in the industry.

Other dignitaries present included NDC Chairman Mourinho, Hon. KALAFAIR, and the Chairperson of the event, Eng. Osei Bofah, CEO of Petrosol. Also in attendance were Mr. Ben Berko (Ofa Broni), a respected entrepreneur and community sanitation chairman; Samuel, Manager of MACCCU; and Mr. Bless Carba, General Manager of Rejoice FM, who reaffirmed the media group’s support for youth talent development.
Graduate Success and Impact
A major highlight of the ceremony was the announcement that 8 out of the 15 graduates have already secured employment in media houses and educational institutions. This achievement reflects the practical, industry-focused training provided by Rejoice Media and Baobab IT Institute.
