Chief Imam Calls on Zongo Youth to Reject Electoral Violence

Mim Feteegya Chief Imam, Mallam Nurudeen, has called on Zongo youth in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region to redefine their role in this year’s elections by rejecting associations with violence.
Speaking during a peace campaign in Mim, the Chief Imam emphasized the need for Zongo youth to distance themselves from politicians who often exploit them for violent activities during elections.
Mallam Nurudeen highlighted that Muslims have historically played a pivotal role in providing security for Presidents and contributing positively to national development.
However, he lamented that despite their contributions, some politicians continue to manipulate them for selfish interests, particularly in the form of electoral violence.
The Imam urged the youth to uphold the values of peace and unity, stressing the importance of prioritizing community welfare over divisive politics. “It is time to redeem yourselves and prove that Zongo communities are not synonymous with violence but with progress and peace,” he stated.
