GOVERNMENT COMMISSIONS AHAFO REGIONAL PASSPORT APPLICATION CENTRE
As part of ongoing efforts by the Government of Ghana to decentralise passport services and make them more accessible to citizens across the length and breath of the country, the Honourable Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson (MP) on Wednesday, 31st December 2025 commissioned the Passport Application Centre in Goaso, Ahafo Region.
In his address, the Deputy Minister highlighted Government’s commitment to efficient, transparent and citizen-focused public service delivery and used the opportunity to apprise the public on the reforms the Ministry has embarked on in relation to passport administration. He stated that the reforms were intended to reduce exploitation by intermediaries and middlemen to improve transparency and restore public confidence in passport services. An applicant who applied for passports at the Goaso application centre had the first ever passport produced in the region and handed over by the Deputy Minister during the event. The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs. Charity Gardiner remarked that the opening of the application centre was a testament to the President’s commitment to bringing essential services closer to the people as well as the beginning of the construction of well befitting office complex. The Omanhene of Ntotoroso who doubles as the president of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs , Nana Barima Twereku Ampem commended the Government for bringing such a significant public service to the region. He stressed on the nexus between mobility and economic growth and added that the burden of travel cost which was associated with passport application would now be a thing of the past. Cue.. The Member of Parliament for Asunafo North, Honourable Haruna Mohammed representing the Ahafo Parliamentary Caucus joined others in applauding the Government for ensuring equity in public service delivery and also delivery upon it’s mandate and promise. Cue Hon Haruna Mohammed
