President Approves New District for Mim in Ahafo Region
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has approved the creation of a new district for Mim in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region.
This decision fulfills a long-standing aspiration of the people of Mim, who have advocated for district status as a step toward self-governance and improved development.
During his engagement with the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, local clergy, students, and party supporters at the Goaso Pastoral Center, President Akufo-Addo shared the news, confirming that the legislative instrument (L.I.) required to formalize Mim’s district status would be laid before Parliament once it resumes.
This move underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing governance and enabling localized development in Ghana’s regions.
For Mim, district status represents an opportunity for focused governance, with the potential to accelerate infrastructure improvements, educational opportunities, and healthcare resources tailored specifically to the community’s needs. Residents have long expressed their desire for closer administration and dedicated resources to address Mim’s unique challenges.
Additionally, President Akufo-Addo took the opportunity to express his support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, urging the people of Ahafo and Ghana at large to rally behind the Vice President in the upcoming elections. He emphasized that Dr. Bawumia possesses the vision and leadership required to steer Ghana toward further growth and prosperity.
