A recent statement by the Ghana Police Service regarding the arrest of Hon Collins Dauda, the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, has sparked controversy and conflicting reports.

The statement suggested that Hon Collins Dauda had been arrested due to his alleged involvement in disturbances during the Limited Voter Registration Exercise in Kukuom, Ahafo Region, on Saturday, 11th May 2024. The incident resulted in one person sustaining injuries and receiving medical treatment.

However, Anwingura Daniel, also known as Ahafo Gatusso, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, refuted these claims.

Speaking on the ‘Rejoice Amansan Ntie’ morning show with Yaw Omono-Asamoah, Anwingura Daniel stated that the information about Hon Collins Dauda’s arrest was false. He emphasized that Hon Collins Dauda was not arrested and wasn’t even present in the constituency during the mentioned incident.

The conflicting reports have raised questions about the accuracy of information regarding political figures and events surrounding the ongoing voter registration process. The Ghana Police Service’s pursuit of other suspects connected to the Kukuom disturbances adds another layer of complexity to the situation.
