Special Voting: Fire officer arrested for snapping ballot

A Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) officer is in police custody after allegedly violating electoral rules during the special voting exercise in Walewale on Monday (2 December).
The West Mamprusi Municipal Police Command apprehended the officer on suspicion of photographing his completed ballot paper after casting his vote—a breach of Ghana’s voting regulations.
According to preliminary reports, the officer reportedly intended to share the photo as proof of his vote.He is currently being held at the Walewale Police Station as authorities investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, 854 eligible special voters, including security personnel and election officials, are expected to participate in the constituency’s early voting exercise.
