The Krontihene of Bediako, Nana Kwasi Nyame, has voiced his concerns over the lack of government support for the Bediako Community in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region.

He lamented the absence of developmental projects initiated by the government, highlighting that all existing projects have been undertaken through the efforts of the local chiefs.

During an interview on Rejoice FM’s Community Watch, Nana Kwasi expressed particular concern over a hazardous public toilet that not only poses a safety risk but also causes air pollution, adversely affecting nearby food vendors.

He mentioned that although the assembly had inspected their Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound and promised further assistance, no action has been taken since.

The chief emphasized the urgent need for expansion of the CHPS compound and accommodations for nurses, noting that the community has already initiated these projects but requires government support to complete them.

Madam Helena Serwaa, the nurse in charge of the Bediako CHPS compound, echoed the call for additional wards, nurse accommodations, and swift completion of the CHPS compound expansion.

Community members further expressed how the unsafe toilet and inadequate road networks are negatively impacting their daily lives.

In response, Hon. Osei Yaw Boahen, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asunafo North, claimed that the assembly was unaware of these issues, suggesting the community had not communicated their problems to the assembly.

Contradicting this, former Assembly Member Hon. Bright Nsiah insisted that multiple letters and documents detailing their concerns had been submitted to the assembly.
