*Government has no money to construct Bediako-Kasapin to Camp Junction Road-Deputy Roads Minister*The Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Stephen Jalulah, recently made a statement revealing that the government currently lacks the necessary funds to proceed with the construction of the Bediako-Kasapin to Camp Junction Road. This 42.5-kilometer road project, initially awarded to Kofi-Job Construction Limited during the 2015-2016 tenure of the NDC government, has been stalled due to financial constraints.The project, which commenced with drainage works under the previous administration, was halted in 2016 following President Nana Akufo Addo’s directive for a financial audit. Despite attempts to resume work in 2020 under the “government critical roads policy,” the contractor, Kofi Job Construction Limited, withdrew from the site shortly after the 2020 election.In a recent interview during his tour of the Ahafo Region to assess road projects, Hon. Stephen Jalulah acknowledged the critical importance of the Bediako-Kasapin to Camp Junction Road but emphasized the government’s current inability to allocate funds for its construction. He mentioned that the government’s interim solution would involve regular road reshaping to facilitate commuter traffic until adequate funding becomes available.Hon. Jalulah also took the opportunity to highlight the NPP government’s achievements in road infrastructure development, claiming that they have surpassed previous administrations in terms of road construction across Ghana. He listed ongoing road projects in the Ahafo Region as part of the government’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure nationwide.
