MP Sponsors Brilliant but Needy WASSCE Student to University

The Member of Parliament for the Asunafo North Constituency in the Ahafo Region, Hon. Haruna Mohammed, has pledged to sponsor a brilliant but financially disadvantaged WASSCE graduate, Agyapong Samuel, to pursue his university education until completion.
This decision came after Hon. Kyei Baffour, the former Assembly Member for Mim Airport Electoral Area, sought financial support for Samuel on Rejoice FM. The student’s parents were unable to afford his admission fees.
The 20-year-old, who graduated from St. Hubert Seminary SHS with outstanding results—8As in the WASSCE—has been admitted to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to study Medicine. With Hon. Haruna Mohammed’s intervention, Samuel will soon begin his studies.
Hon. Kyei Baffour explained that his own experience as a needy student motivated him to advocate for Samuel. He also revealed plans by the Mim Traditional Council to launch a fund to support the education of needy but brilliant students, emphasizing the importance of nurturing future leaders.
The student’s father, Mr. Emmanuel Agyapong Kontor, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Haruna Mohammed and apologized for any misunderstandings during the MP’s campaign. He acknowledged that he had vowed not to vote for him due to personal issues with the MP’s father but is now grateful for the unexpected support.
Agyapong Samuel also expressed his profound gratitude to Hon. Haruna Mohammed for helping him achieve his dream of becoming a medical doctor.
