NPP flagbearer race: “We could have silenced Bawumia’s attackers but for the party’s unity we won’t” – Bawumia’s Campaign Team

Management of the campaign team for the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is calling for a decent campaign to ensure peace and unity before, during and after upcoming presidential primaries for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The team said it is vibrant enough to get back at opponents attacking Dr. Bawumia, but will not go that direction for the sake of party’s unity, hence, urged others to do same.
The Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has stressed the importance of a clean and respectful campaign as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership race intensifies.
Dr Bawumia said immediately the contest is concluded, the party will have to come together as a cohesive force to ensure the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not return to power.
For this reason, he insisted that the internal contest ought not to be acrimonious.
NPP has scheduled August 26 for the Supper Delegates Conference to reduce the 10 presidential aspirants to 5. The party will on November 4, 2023, elect a flagbearer out of the 5.
Some aspirants indirectly attacking the Vice President and condemning the government.
However, a member of the management team for Dr. Bawumia, Yaw Adomako Baafi said the campaign will rather opt for descent campaign to ensure unity in the party.
“Looking at the level some aspirants are taking this campaign to, we could have silenced them, but we are not going to do that for the sake of the party’s unity. The man we are following and selling (Bawumia) is descent so our campaign is very descent and we say it is possible,” he added.
Yaw Adomako Baafi hence, rubbished claims that the Super Delegates Conference will not have impact on the November 4th conference.
He said those claims are made out of desperation.
