Asunafo North Municipal Assembly Fails to Elect Presiding Member for the Third Time

The Asunafo North Municipality in the Ahafo Region is facing a significant administrative challenge, having failed to elect a presiding member for the third time.
Despite eight rounds of voting, the assembly has been unable to reach the required majority, leaving the position vacant and impacting the municipality’s governance.In the latest attempt, the assembly members voted on Hon. Sarfo Osei Benjamin as the presiding member candidate.
The results were 27 votes in favor and 4 against. However, some assembly members did not participate in the vote, resulting in the assembly’s failure to achieve the necessary one-third majority.The inability to elect a presiding member is causing growing concern among the assembly members.
The presiding member’s role is crucial for the functioning of the assembly, as they facilitate meetings and ensure the smooth operation of the assembly’s activities. Without a presiding member, the assembly cannot convene official meetings to discuss and address the needs of their constituents.
Assembly members have expressed their frustration and concern over the repeated failures to elect a presiding member.
They highlighted that the ongoing deadlock is affecting their ability to effectively represent their communities and address local issues.
The absence of a presiding member means that key decisions and discussions are delayed, impacting the overall development and governance of the municipality.
