CHIEFS OF AKRODIE MANHYIA CLARIFIES POLITICAL TURMOIL OVER POLY TANKS AND APPEALS FOR DEVELOPMENT

Controversy has recently surrounding the provision of poly tanks at Akrodie Manhyia in the Asunafo North Constituency of the Ahafo Region has highlighted the tensions between political representation and community development. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused Hon. Evans Opoku Bobbie, the Member of Parliament for Asunafo North, of delaying essential resources and taking credit for initiatives he allegedly obstructed.During a press conference, the NDC’s Deputy Communications Officer, Akwasi Bekoe Collins, specifically pointed out the request for poly tanks made by the Chiefs of Akrodie Manhyia to Hon. Bobbie. They claim that despite repeated appeals over four years, Hon. Bobbie only acted on the request after his opponent, Hon. Haruna Mohammed (B.A.), agreed to provide the tanks. The NDC further alleges that Hon. Bobbie replaced the tanks supplied by Hon. Mohammed to claim credit for meeting the community’s needs. However, in response to these allegations, Nana Agyemang Kuma, the Sanaahene of Akrodie Manhyia, clarified the situation. According to Nana Kuma, both Hon. Bobbie and Hon. Mohammed contributed poly tanks to the community. He explained that while Hon. Mohammed provided the tanks first, they were not immediately installed, whereas Hon. Bobbie’s tanks were installed on the same day they were delivered.Nana Kuma’s statement also included an appeal for additional infrastructure, highlighting the ongoing needs of the community beyond poly tanks. He specifically mentioned the necessity for a clinic and a KG block, emphasizing the broader development requirements that should be addressed by government officials.
