Mim Residents Cry Over Darkness
The residents of Mim, located in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region, are raising concerns over the lack of adequate street lighting in the town. According to the residents, the streets of Mim are engulfed in darkness every evening, with the only sources of light coming from the various homes, leaving public spaces perilous.
During an interview on Rejoice FM’s Community Watch program, some residents expressed their fear of venturing out after dark, as the lack of streetlights makes them vulnerable to criminal activities, particularly armed robbery. Many stated that the absence of functioning street lights has heightened their concerns about safety, forcing them to stay indoors in the evenings.
They further noted that several streets in the town not only lack functional lighting but also lack the necessary poles to support the installation of streetlights.
In addition to the lighting issue, the residents pointed out that the roadsides are overgrown with bushes, exacerbating the danger to pedestrians and drivers alike.
The residents of Mim are appealing to the local authorities for immediate intervention, requesting the installation and repair of streetlights as well as the clearing of bushy roadsides to improve safety and security in the area.
