Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Asunafo North Municipality in the Ahafo Region, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Kwaku Doku, has claimed that during the tenure of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), cocoa farmers received 70% of the world market price for cocoa. He explained that the remaining 30% was used to provide fertilizers and agrochemicals to support cocoa production.

In an interview with the media, he criticized the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for selling fertilizers to farmers, which he believes has negatively impacted cocoa production.

According to him, the NPP administration gives farmers only 40% of the world cocoa price, which he described as unfair.Alhaji Doku assured cocoa farmers that a future NDC government would restore the 70% share for farmers, provide fertilizers and agrochemicals, and also improve road infrastructure in cocoa-growing areas.

He expressed confidence in the NDC’s chances of winning the next general elections.
