The Electoral Commission (EC) has released the latest statistics on the voter register, providing a comprehensive overview of the electorate ahead of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The EC during Tuesday’s Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra indicated that the total number of valid voters stands at 18,772,795. Of these, 9,690,173 are females, while 9,082,622 are males.The register also includes 708,282 first-time voters, reflecting the engagement of new participants in the democratic process.

Special voters, who include security personnel and election officials, number 131,475. Additionally, there are 332,110 transferred voters, indicating those who have changed their voting locations.The statistics also highlight 2,167 proxy voters, who will vote on behalf of others unable to attend in person.

Furthermore, the register lists 32,974 applicants on the exceptions list and 26,798 on the multiple lists.The Electoral Commissioner, Jean Mensa, once again pushed back the call by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for a forensic audit into the 2024 provisional voters register.

She emphasized the EC’s constitutional mandate and track record in delivering credible elections.Jean Mensa, referencing Article 45 (a) of the 1992 Constitution, urged all stakeholders to trust the commission in executing its duties.
