The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. George Yaw Boakye, has expressed concerns about the ongoing impasse in Parliament, noting that it is affecting developmental activities in the Ahafo Region.

Speaking on the Rejoice Amansan Ntie morning show, he emphasized the importance of Parliament’s cooperation to progress initiatives such as the proposed University of Engineering and Applied Sciences for the region and the creation of the Mim District.According to Hon. Boakye, the bill for establishing the university is ready but awaits Parliament’s attention, which has been delayed due to the impasse.

Additionally, the Legislative Instrument (L.I) required for the creation of the Mim District must be laid in Parliament for 21 days to become effective, a process currently stalled by the deadlock.

He reassured Mim residents that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the next president, would continue the Mim district’s creation, stating that nothing could hinder this plan.

However, he clarified that while the government is responsible for creating districts, the Electoral Commission (EC) is responsible for creating constituencies. Thus, until the EC establishes a new constituency for the district, there will be no Member of Parliament specifically for Mim. For the time being, the Asunafo North MP will represent the new district after the election.
