Tragedy struck in Wassa Amponsaso, located in the Wassa East district of the Western Region, as two young siblings met a heartbreaking fate. Andy Dogbe, aged six, and his younger sister Daniella Dogbe, aged three and a half, lost their lives in a devastating fire that engulfed their home.
The incident occurred yesterday evening, between 8 pm and 9 pm. At that time, the children were asleep while their mother was taking a bath.
An eyewitness, Mr. Omega Alex, recounted the harrowing event, describing how a sudden explosive sound followed by flames shattered the tranquility of the night.Despite swift efforts from the residents to rescue the children, their attempts were futile, and the siblings succumbed to the blaze. Mr. Stephen Mawule Dogbe, the children’s father, was away in Cape Coast when he received the distressing news of the fire and the loss of his beloved children.
The grief-stricken mother, Madam Edina Dogbe, tearfully expressed her sorrow during an interview. The bodies of the young victims have been taken to the Twifo Praso government mortuary by the Wassa Atobiase police, where investigations into the tragic incident are ongoing.
